Smells of smoky BBQ, sweet fried dough, and fresh coffee drift through the Showgrounds as you wander past food trucks and stalls. Alongside the familiar classics; hot chips, fairy floss, celebratory pies, as well as a farmer’s BBQ and top notch Banh Mi in the ‘Eat Street’ precinct. Dreaming of a sausage sizzle? You can also eat for a good cause as the show is serving up $3.50 sausage sangas from 11am–2pm daily, with all proceeds supporting the Melbourne Royal Foundation. No matter your food mood, the Royal Show turns every meal into an adventure.

Hang & cuddle the animals

Have your phone ready for lots of photo ops with the cute and cuddly critters at the show. Alternatively, stop by the Animal Nursery, where kids and adults alike can meet baby animals and even help bottle feed them. The Farmhouse gives you a hands on taste of farm life with sheep shearing demos, cow-milking and the chance to play with piglets. Around the grounds, you’ll find plenty of livestock competitions with alpacas, cattle, sheep, and dogs, which really highlight excellence in agriculture and the deep bond between communities and their animals.
