Firelight Festival Melbourne

Event detail

This winter, Melbourne’s much awaited free celebration, Firelight Festival, is back!

Brought to you by the City of Melbourne, this super family-friendly festival is sure to delight your senses with fire displays, art installations, live music, pop-up food and drink delights, plus much more.

Firelight Festival returns to Docklands this year from 4–6th July 2026. Firelight brings families, couples, and friends together to enjoy fire and light shows, music and performance, and of course, countless culinary delights – all while illuminating the heart of Docklands near Melbourne’s CBD. And what makes it even better? It’s free!

Highlights

Come along and feast on Melbourne’s delightfully wintery pop-up stalls this July. Whether you’re craving a frothy hot chocolate or s’mores sizzled over the fire, there are endless yummy delicacies available to satisfy your belly all weekend long.

If you’re an arts and culture enthusiast, be wowed by impressive light installations along the harbour-front and enjoy an eclectic mix of pop-up entertainment. Whether it’s fire twirlers doing impressive feats of the imagination, cultural dance troops bringing their unique flavour to the stage, or electro-funk dance music for you to get your groove on, there’s truly something for everyone at Firelight Festival.

Firelight Festival takes over Docklands for three fiery nights across sites at NewQuay Promenade, Victoria Promenade, and Harbour Esplanade. Remember, Firelight is a free event that does not require any bookings. Simply turn up and experience free entertainment for the whole family!

Getting there

We recommend taking public transport, such as the tram or train, to Docklands.

The free City Circle tram runs along Harbourside Esplanade seven days a week. If you’re planning to catch the train, hop off at Southern Cross Station and follow the signs across the Bourke Street footbridge.

As we mentioned, it’s easy to access Docklands on foot via the Bourke Street footbridge, and you can also walk across the Collins Street and LaTrobe Street bridges.

Once you’re there, explore Victoria Harbour Promenade, Harbour Esplanade, NewQuay Promenade, Buluk Park and Central Park for Firelight Festival’s celebration of all things fire.

Check out the festival map for more details about the festival layout.
